The Zhejiang Provincial Key Enterprise Research Institute for Medical Materials and Tissue Engineering has successfully passed the construction acceptance inspection

On January 12, 2017, the Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province organized experts to convene an acceptance meeting in Hangzhou for the construction project of the "Zhejiang Provincial Key Enterprise Research Institute for Medical Materials and Tissue Engineering" undertaken by Zhejiang Xingyue Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

During the inspection, the expert group listened to a work report on the construction of the research institute presented by Zhao Hongshi, Vice President of the Key Enterprise Research Institute, and conducted an inspection of the research institute's R&D facilities. During the construction period, the institute added RMB 124.6055 million in scientific research equipment and fixed assets, with experimental space reaching 5,712.25 square meters. A relatively well-structured R&D team was established, and a relatively comprehensive operational mechanism and management system were set up. At the same time, the institute closely focused on research directions, conducting R&D and industrial transformation of key generic technologies for a series of products such as soft tissue patches, skin repair materials, and osteochondral repair materials, and achieving a series of innovative results. During the construction period, the institute undertook 4 national and provincial scientific research projects (topics), with an additional RMB 6.5468 million in scientific research funding; it participated in the publication of 11 papers, including 7 papers indexed by SCI; applied for 17 patents, with 8 invention patents granted and 2 utility model patents; and obtained 2 CE certificates for products. Among the research achievements, the in situ tissue regeneration technology based on autologous cells has been successfully applied in the treatment of sports system diseases, achieving good social and economic benefits.  

After thorough discussion, the acceptance expert panel unanimously agreed that the key enterprises of medical materials and tissue engineering in Zhejiang Province had fulfilled the construction content outlined in the responsibility agreement during the construction period and achieved the expected construction goals. They agreed to approve the acceptance of the research institute project.

Note: The Zhejiang Provincial Key Enterprise Research Institute of Medical Materials and Tissue Engineering was approved for establishment by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government in October 2012. The institute is primarily led by Zhejiang Xingyue Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and is built upon the foundation of the previously established Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Technology. Focusing on sports medicine and regenerative medicine, the institute emphasizes the development of key generic technologies such as medical new materials and stem cell tissue engineering products. It aims to consolidate and expand its presence in the fields of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. In terms of the research, development, and industrialization of medical new materials, the institute will intensify the research and development of high-end medical new materials, achieve import substitution, reduce the high costs of medical materials for domestic patients, and occupy a larger share of the domestic market. The goal is to develop a series of medical new materials and stem cell tissue engineering products within a 3-year construction period. This includes 3-5 medical new material products, such as soft tissue patches, skin patches, and medical eye protection patches, as well as 2-3 stem cell and tissue engineering products (industrialized through technical services or a combination of technical services and product sales), including tissue engineering technology and tissue engineering cartilage transplantation.
