The Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Technology has successfully passed the construction acceptance inspection

On September 30th, the acceptance meeting for the construction project of the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Technology was successfully held at the Zhejiang University Zijingang Campus. Lv Pinyi, Deputy Director of the Planning Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Department, Ouyang Hongwei, Dean of the Zhejiang University School of Basic Medicine, Yi Ping, Director of the Medical Research Management Office of Zhejiang University, Xuan Tiefeng, General Manager of Zhejiang Xingyue Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and the project leader of the key laboratory attended the meeting.

The acceptance expert group, consisting of Yan Jing from Zhejiang Hospital, Hu Yongping from the Zhejiang Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, and Xuan Yaoxian from the Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences, listened to the work report on laboratory construction presented by Professor Ouyang Hongwei, the director of the key laboratory, and conducted a field inspection of the laboratory. During the construction period, the laboratory closely focused on research directions, emphasizing research and development in histology and tissue engineering of tissues such as bone, cartilage, and tendon, as well as clinical translation of regenerative medical technology, and achieved a series of innovative results. The laboratory has undertaken 17 national-level projects; invested over 10 million yuan, published 22 papers, with 21 papers indexed by SCI; applied for 8 national invention patents, with 3 granted, and obtained 2 CE certificates; and won 2 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. It has successfully developed and promoted tissue-engineered tissue transplantation technology based on autologous cells. The laboratory has extensively conducted cooperation and exchanges at home and abroad, forming an internationally competitive research and development team.

After thorough discussion, the acceptance expert panel unanimously agreed that the Key Laboratory of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Technology has achieved a number of scientific research achievements that have reached the international advanced level during its construction period. It has completed the construction content outlined in the construction task book and achieved the expected construction goals. The panel unanimously agreed that the laboratory should pass the acceptance. At the same time, the expert panel suggested that the laboratory should pay more attention to the clinical translation of scientific research achievements and the upgrading and replacement of existing medical technologies in the next step, in order to enhance the public service capability of the laboratory.

Note: The Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Technology was approved for establishment by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology at the end of 2011. The laboratory is centered around the Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering Center of Zhejiang University, with Zhejiang Xingyue Biotechnology Co., Ltd. as the transformation base, the Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine as the application base, and the Affiliated Sports Hospital of Zhejiang Sports Vocational and Technical College as the sports medicine center. Based on their respective professional expertise in basic research, new technology development, industrialization, clinical problem solving, and sports function recovery, they collaborate to carry out high-level basic research and applied research.
